When we lose weight, there is no way to specifically burn fat from one part of the body. Doing situps won’t burn the fat that is covering your abs and doing tricep extensions won’t get rid of the fat that is covering your triceps. The only thing you can do is lose weight all around and eventually the problem area will also improve.

How can I tone a certain area of my body? -

the sonoma diet is great and not at all restrictive: no calorie counting, no fat or carb watching, just some guidelines on how to eat. as far as soft drinks, you’d be better off without any at all, but try switching to diet for now. it’s really not that bad. or try flavoring water with no-cal, no sugar sweeteners like crystal lite. there’s also a good diet lipton green tea that is essentially a soft drink but at least “better” for you. basically a diet with less refined flour and sugars will help abdominal fat go away pretty quickly.

Your body is a complicated thing. Your body has what is called a starvation response. If you don’t eat as much or burn more calories then you take in on a daily basis, your body will respond and slow down your metabolism in order to conserve energy. And even with the smaller amount of energy it does burn, it still won’t burn fat. It will instead burn your protein storages. Where is protein in your body stored? Bingo! Your muscles. Not eating as much daily will slow down your metabolism and cause your body to literally eat itself alive. You have to “trick” your body into losing weight by not letting it trigger this starvation response. You can do this using the zig-zag method. Here’s what you do:
1) Find your basal metabolic rate. Just google that and you’ll find the formula.
2) CALORIES COUNT. Keep track of the number of calories you take in. To zig- zag, take in about 500 calories less then your basal metabolic rate for three days. no more than three days. Then, for 1-2 days, take in 5% more than your basal metabolic rate. (about 125 calories more). Doing this will trick your body into not going into starvation mode.
3) DO NOT get your calories from junk. Junk food won’t help you any.
4) Eat at least six meals a day. Make each meal a small portion. How do you do that? Well, you take your basal metabolic rate and divide it by 6. Eat that amount of calories every meal. Have a meal about every 6 hours.
5) It’s always better to burn the fat not starve it. Do some cardio. Go running, jump rope, do stairs, aerobics, whatever! Just don’t sit and do nothing. If you wanna watch T.V., jog in place as you do.

If you do this, you’ll lose weight, and have more energy. And you’ll get more toned from that cardio. You might aso want to get a copy of a book that explains all this in great detail. That book is called, Burn the fat, Feed the Muscle.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter your stats, take 300-400 calories off that number and that’s how much you need to lose weight.
5-8servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water a day
5-6 small meals instead of 3 big ones (breakfast is the most important - make sure to get complex carbs like whole wheat bread, oatmeal, fruit etc)
4-6 times a week cardio for 30-50min, light weight training, many reps
no junk food, no sodas, no alcohol, no white flour (cakes, cookies, white bread, pasta etc.), nothing high in sugar (ice cream)

I would suggest a cleansing diet. I did this and lost 12 pounds and 19 inches in 9 days. I continued and lost 29 pounds in a month. I like the program since it works by giving your body nutrition through protein shakes with digestive enzymes and vitamins and then cleansing out the toxins. We get toxins in our bodies from pesticides, preservatives, water, pollution, medications, food additives etc…. These toxins enter our bodies and get stored in our fat cells. To shrink the fat, we need to get rid of the toxins through cleansing. The program also has a natural diet pill to help your metabolism and curb cravings. It works and it works fast. My skin has improved from the cleansing. It is pricey but worth it! I think cleansing is really important to health and weight loss. Give it a try and good luck!
