Try to keep the weight loss to no more than 3 pounds a week to do it healthily and to keep the weight off permanently. It can be hard to go on a diet in a house where you are not in charge of the food choices and purchases. Avoid fad diets. Just remember portion control, choose water over soda and sports drinks, and fill most of your plate with vegetables instead of meat and starch. Good luck with your weight loss.

You can get close to 50 lbs by Sept. You really shouldn’t lose more than 2 lbs per week. Check out sparkpeople.com - it’s free and has a great calorie counter that can help you monitor your portion sizes. You can lose weight eating anything, you just have to watch how much you are eating.

Would your mom be open to suggestions for a few healthy meals per week? There’s lots of sites that have healthy recipes - maybe you could print off a couple and ask if you could make them if she buys the ingredients. I know if my kids ask to make something new (and healthy) I say yes!

buy fresh, whole foods, like vegetables, meat and eggs. make sure you have a good spice pantry and you can do simple things like stir fries.

you’re not gonna lose any weight if you eat junky foods. junky foods in my opinion are sugars, breads, grains… remember that grain, sugar and starch carbohydrates are the ones that put your body in “starvation mode” and make you gain weight. avoid those if you want to lose weight.

keep in mind weight loss needs exercise. fad diets don’t work at all. eat lots of fresh, raw vegetables to help you lose weight–live enzymes in raw veggies help you digest your food so it doesn’t bulk up–and drink lots of water. exercise is a key component.

concentrate on veggies, meat and eggs. just vegetables and protein.

if you buy whole foods like vegetables, meat and eggs it actually costs less than boxed, processed equivalents (which are worse for you). it’s a win win situation if you learn how to prepare your own meals.

salads are a good start, meat on the bbq, boiled and scrambled eggs…

avoid dairy too, for weight loss and health, but if you need to eat dairy make sure it’s high fat dairy. fat doesn’t make you fat, it’s sugars and other carbohydrates.

this is from my experience and research and you should definitely never ever eat anything from a box. that’s just begging for sickness, disease and fat. think of all the other primitive civilizations that aren’t as fat as north americans and some europeans. they stuck to a basic diet that didn’t include garbage like vegetable oil and margarine. keep it real and use butter, or coconut oil for cooking.

good luck getting/staying healthy.
